This week’s challenge comes from the incredibly talented Victoria Barbour:
If your life was a romance novel, what subgenre would it be, and why would your hero be amazing? Also, what would you call it? Can you write a blurb for it?
Luckily, the subgenre would not be Historical, since I’m not quite old enough. And it wouldn’t be Erotic/Erotica for obvious reasons. And there is no category for transitional, but if it existed, that’s what mine would be. Or re-invention.
My first job was as a nurses’ aide while I was still in high school. I was going pre-med and had every intention of becoming a doctor. That morphed into a career in advertising (I know, don’t ask) which transitioned into veterinary medicine which became therapeutic horseback riding instructor for the disabled and swim therapist for the severely mentally handicapped, which returned to veterinary which ended up in a full-time writing career. Yes, I had been writing throughout the years with some success, but not enough to support myself.
The hero of my story is my husband. After some unsuccessful relationships, I finally found someone who believed in me and my ability. What a difference to have someone on your team! And isn’t that what it’s all about? To find someone who supports your strengths and pulls you out of the pity party when the rejections come. He is amazing!
A title? Probably “Never Give Up”. The only blurbs I can think of are so cliché, I hesitate…. But you get the idea.
And now, after six novels completed and sold (five of them romance) and more to come, I have found my happily ever after with my hero and my life.
And coming soon…
Now let’s hop over and see what the fabulous A.S. Fenichel’s romance novel would be….

Sometimes I envy people like you who have had so many careers. The plot and character ideas must abound!
You’ve done so much! That would be an amazing book to read!
