This week’s challenge comes from me…Leslie Hachtel:

What memories of summer make you feel good all year ’round?

Years ago I was walking down a beautiful beach and foam-frosted waves were rising up, curving and diving down to the shore. The water was a brilliant blue and the brilliant sun was not too hot. I was in love and the man was walking beside me. Life just doesn’t get better than that.

On the dark, rainy days, I go back to that beach in my imagination and feel the sand under my toes and the splash of cool water on my legs. And the sense that in that space of time, all was right with the world.

There are other summer memories that carry me through the dreary winter. Tasting the tomatoes I grew in the garden, still warm from the sun. Peach juice dripping down after that first delicious bite. Fireflies and warm nights and clear skies. And not having to wear layer upon layer of heavy clothes. Vibrant green and the sweet smell of flowers. I love all those things. But that moment on the beach…

Let’s see what the fabulous Carrie Elks remembers….
