This week, the challenge (as you probably already know) is 300 words of Flash Fiction. Theme: Kiss me slowly. Well….here’s mine.

She was exhausted. How long had she been on that plane? And now, a connection through the worst airport ever. The gate was on the other side, which was at least 100 miles away. Her shoes made her feet feel like they had swollen to the size of the boxes they came in. Her tight silk dress must look as if she had slept in it. At least the pale green complimented her coloring. Like that mattered now. Her stomach growled, letting her know she should check and see if her throat had been cut.

Her shoulder bag dug in and she swayed from the sheer unruly weight of it. Some woman and her child weren’t watching where they were going and the woman slammed into her, knocking her off balance. The little girl smiled at her, which was even more infuriating. As if she could scream at a kid.

She exhaled. I don’t even want to be on this trip, she thought. It could have been done with tele-conferencing. But no, the client had insisted on face-to-face. Dinosaur!

At least she had adequate time to make the next flight. The gate loomed ahead and she breathed a sigh of relief. Then, she nearly stopped breathing altogether. He was coming off a plane and walking toward her, those crystal blue eyes pinning her in place like a bug caught with a sharp object. He strode directly up to her and stopped. She took a step back and he took a step forward. Repeat. And repeat. Until they were out of the crowd and against a secluded wall.

“What do you want?” she demanded. “After all this time.”

“I wasn’t finished,” he stated.

“What do you want?” she repeated.

“Kiss me…but this time slowly.”
