  1. How did you get the idea for your book?

Actually, I am working on #4 and #5 and the ideas came from five different places.  The first, “Harriet”, came from an actual case of a serial killer.  “Dariana” was conceived out of my love for pre-Elizabethan England.  “Texas Summer” came to me when I saw a photo of a ribbon of highway across a desert and “Captain’s Captive” just seemed to pop into my head one day.  “Jenna” is set in the Civil War, which fascinates me, and has some of personal history as part of the story.

2.  How did you decide on the title?

For me, titles come from the work.  They name themselves, so to speak, at the beginning. As I am starting the process, I have to call the book something and my first instinct is the one that always seems to stick.

3. What motivated you to get the book completed and published?

I write because I have no choice.  And once I start writing a novel, it almost consumes me.  I conjure scenes and dialog as I go about my day and my house is littered with notes.  Then, I sit down and put down my ideas and ruminate on them.  Changes are made and the process continues until I am satisfied.

Really…to put in so much time and energy and work, I have to believe in the value of what I am doing.  And, since I consider it to be worthwhile, why wouldn’t I want to ‘get it out there’?

I wonder what Jo Richardson has to say.  Let’s pop over and see.  And don’t forget to add comments if the spirit moves you.
