‘Do you like to read romance novels? Wouldn’t you like to know more about your favorite authors? Well you came to the right place! Join the writers of Romance Weekly as we go behind the scenes of our books and tell all….. About our writing of course! Every week we’ll answer questions and after you’ve enjoyed the blog on this site we’ll direct you to another. So come back often for a thrilling ride! Tell your friends and feel free to ask us questions in the comment box.

This week the questions come from the talented Beth Carter who just released her new book, “Thursdays at Coconuts” to great reviews.

1. What’s your favorite aspect of novel writing? Dialogue? Setting? Conflict? Narration? Explain.

I love every aspect of writing. The research is fascinating and a whole world onto itself. The characters then begin to emerge and take on their own life. I love that! Of course, there must be conflict and it is great fun and a challenge to come up with ideas. I find every part of the process wonderful and exciting in its own way.

2. How do you choose the setting for your plot and are they always similar settings or does it vary? (i.e., small town, big city, castle, etc.)

The settings vary depending on the tale. “Texas Summer” Is set in a small Texas town. The environment underscores the theme and plot. “The Defiant Bride” opens in the King’s Forest in 1509 England and that is important to the story. “Captain’s Captive” is set primarily on a ship in 1723 between England and the colonies and that, too, is central to the plot. Once I determine the storyline, the setting reveals itself.

3. I’m a big six-word memoir fan. (Hemingway even wrote one.) Describe your writing day using just six words.

Imagine, Write, Dream, Write, Write, Dream

Since Beth came up with the questions, I’ll bet her answers are wonderful. Let’s hop over and see…
